How a Power Outage Can Ruin Your Holidays

Family around table for holidays

Let’s be honest — there are a lot of things that can ruin the holidays: Uncle Jim brings up politics; Aunt Jeanine has a little too much wine with dinner; Cousin Bobby tells Cousin Timmy that Santa isn’t real. But the one thing you shouldn’t let ruin the holidays is a power outage. While you may think your safe from blackouts, there are plenty of ways a power outage can ruin your holidays.

No Way to Cook Food

Everyone knows that food is one of the best parts of the holidays. Now, while you may be safe if your appliances run on gas, if your oven runs on electricity, you’ll be stuck with cold, and potentially uncooked, food. Beyond that, a power outage will put your food at risk since your refrigerator won’t be able to keep anything cold and fresh.

No Heat

If your power is out, that means your electricity-powered heating systems won’t be able to keep you, your family, or your guests warm. And we’re not just talking about your forced-air systems — you won’t be able to use portable space heaters either. While you could light up the fireplace, we don’t think it’d do much good for 20 guests.

No Light for Presents

Yes, candles can provide you with a bit of light while simultaneously setting a cozy mood, but unless you have a lot of them, they won’t be able to keep your entire home lit. Without electricity to light up the room, how are you supposed to see your mom’s face when you give her the vintage record she’s wanted for years? Sadly, you won’t.

At Air Treatment Company, we are dedicated to keeping your family safe when powering your home during the holidays. For more information on whole-home generators or to schedule a service, call us at (703) 270-0881.
