Don't Ever Ignore These Sounds. Here's Why.

There are some sounds in the world that you can get away with ignoring — honking cars in traffic, your alarm clock in the morning, etc. But some of the sounds you shouldn’t ignore are ones coming from your HVAC system. For the sake of your safety, don’t ever ignore these sounds coming from your heating and cooling systems.

Bad Sounds Coming from Your AC:

Hissing Noises

If your AC is hissing, you could have a refrigerant leak on your hands. Since refrigerant exposure can be dangerous, you should call your HVAC tech to fix the problem.

Banging Noises

Banging noises can be the result of loose parts that can damage your unit.

Buzzing Noises

Buzzing noises are the sign of electrical problems. Turn your AC off, and call an HVAC technician right away.

Screeching Noises

These noises are usually a sign of a problem with your fan motor or compressor.

Clicking Noises

Clicking noises are usually a sign of a faulty flame sensor or a problem with the ignition.

Rattling Noises

A continuous rattling noise is a sign that there are work or broken pieces of components in your motor or fan.

Chirping Noises

These noises typically occur after you turn your furnace on after being off for a while. It should go away after a while, but if it doesn’t, call an HVAC tech for help.

Squealing Noises

Squealing noises from your furnace are a sign that there’s a problem with your fan belt or fan motor.
